Gastrointestinal problems are pretty common. People often avoid talking about them but if ignored these problems can get pretty irritating. From stress to bacterial infection, digestive disorders can be caused by any reason. But no matter what is the reason, you may face daily challenges if your digestive system is not functioning properly. Here’s a list of common digestive disorders:
1. Haemorrhoids or Piles
If you see bright red blood with your stool then it’s a sign that you might have haemorrhoids or piles. This is nothing but inflammation of the blood vessels that are located at the end of your digestive tracts. Piles can be extremely painful and itchy. These are mainly caused by digestive disorders such as constipation, lack of fibre in your diet, diarrhoea, and excessive strain during bowel movement. Drink more water and eat fibre rich diet for relieving piles. You may even try ayurvedic treatment for piles.
2. Anal Fissure
Fissures are small tears in the lining of the end of your digestive tract, near the anus. These are oval shaped and are similar to haemorrhoids. You will get similar symptoms as haemorrhoids including pain and bleeding from the anus. Constipation and straining during bowel movements cause fissures. A diet rich in fibre can make your bowel movement less painful. You may try sitz bath, topical anaesthetics, and other medications may also help.
3. Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Do you often suffer from stomach discomfort? If yes, then it could be irritable bowel syndrome. This is a common digestive disorder. The symptoms may vary from person to person. Some may be constipated while other may suffer from frequent diarrhoea. You may even have hard stool one day and loose watery stool the other. Constant bloating is another symptom of irritable bowel syndrome. Eating probiotics (yoghurt) helps in relieving the symptoms. A high-fibre and low-fat meal help treat this problem.

These are stone-like deposits in your gallbladder (a small sack that secretes bile for facilitating digestion. Gallstones form if there are too much waste products or cholesterol deposits in your bile. Gallstones are also caused when your gallbladder doesn’t empty properly.

Also known as acid reflux, GERD is when the stomach acid moves back to your oesophagus giving you a burning like feeling right in the middle of your chest. You will often feel the symptoms right after having meals. This is a chronic condition. If you suffer from persistent heart burn, nausea, chest pain, bad breath, visit your doctor immediately. Try to avoid food items that cause acid reflux.
