Excessive alcohol can lead to many health problems. It damages the liver cells and makes them swell or scar resulting in cirrhosis. We are not asking you to stop drinking alcohol at all but in moderate levels. Consult your doctor about the right amount of alcohol for you. If you doctor asks to quit completely, then follow that advice.

4. Maintain a healthy weight

Obesity exposes you to the risk of developing a fatty liver. Even if you are somewhat overweight, that too is risky for your liver. A fatty liver may lead to non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). This is one of the fastest growing types of liver disease. Weight loss can help in eliminating liver fat.

5. Learn the ways to Prevent Hepatitis

Hepatitis does serious harm to your liver. You may get hepatitis A by drinking contaminated water or by eating contaminated food. Hepatitis B and C may spread through body fluids such a blood. So, avoid sharing needles, razors, and toothbrush. Wash your hands whenever you use the bathroom or before eating. Get vaccinated for Hepatitis A and B. However, there is no vaccination for Hepatitis C.

6. Avoid any kind of toxins

Limit your contact with toxins contained in insecticides, aerosol products, and chemicals. Whenever you are using aerosols, make sure that the room is properly ventilated. Always wear a mask while doing so. Toxins released by these chemicals may injure your liver cells.
