The Facts of Ayurveda

Do you know what is ayurveda and how it camed to existance and why it existed so long and till yet ? then yes we will know exactly all these in detail. The origins of Ayurveda have been traced back to around 5,000 BCE and some of the concepts of Ayurveda have been discovered since the times of Indus Valley Civilization.The first recorded forms of Ayurveda as medical texts evolved from the Vedas like Atharvaveda. There are various legendary accounts of the origin of Ayurveda but till now no one has found extact orgin of it .

Ayurveda means the science of life (Ayur = Life, Veda = Science) which means knowledge of Life. It is made of five basic elements (space , air , fire , water and earth ) called panchmahabhootas. Ayurveda emphasized more on Humoral balance and the suppressing of natural urges is considered unhealthy and claimed to lead to illness. Ayurveda names three elemental substances, the doshas (called Vata, Pitta and Kapha) and states that a balance of the doshas results in health, while imbalance results in disease. Ayurveda has eight canonical components, which are derived from classical Sanskrit literature. Some of the oldest known Ayurvedic texts include the Susrutha Sa?hita and Charaka Sa?hita, which are written in Sanskrit. Ayurveda practitioners had developed various medicinal preparations and surgical procedures by the medieval period . Below are the eight components of ayurveda and what are they for,

Eight components

Kayacikitsa: general medicine, medicine of the body
Kaumara-bhrtya: the treatment of children, paediatrics
Salyatantra: surgical techniques and the extraction of foreign objects
Salakyatantra: treatment of ailments affecting ears, eyes, nose, mouth, etc. (“ENT”)
Bhutavidya: pacification of possessing spirits, and the people whose minds are affected by such possession
Agadatantra: toxicology
Rasayanatantra: rejuvenation and tonics for increasing lifespan, intellect and strength
Vajikaranatantra: aphrodisiacs and treatments for increasing the volume and viability of semen and sexual pleasure.

According to ayurveda, the human body is indeed engineered for a full five score years and more. The three pillars of life — diet, sleep and self-mastery — form the foundation on which ayurveda says you can build good health and longevity. Ayurveda says we should

1) Eat Good and Eat Enough – Ayurveda means, food is a base for good life. Good food is very important for body. It determines on the following What you eat, how you cook, when and in what company you eat … these seemingly small details have a big impact on your overall health, and, ultimately, your life span.

2) Have Good Sleep – Ayurveda believes that disease and disorders develop as you gather a lot of ama or toxins in the body. While physical ama leads to disturbed digestion and forms the breeding ground for disease, mental ama can impact resistance to day-to-day stress. Lack of good-quality sleep is a major factor in generating high levels of mental ama.

3) Follow it Everyday – Ayurvedic healers have always emphasized the value of regularity in everything, be it rest, play or work. They observed it in the daily and seasonal rhythms of life itself, and adapted it to their own lifestyles. So ayurvedic doctors says whatever you do it everyday even if is walking , exercise , running do it everyday.
